Blog from the game with Konica Minolta #4 - Final result...

What an amazing game, it shows that Bangladesh are starting to get up to speed in the limited form of the game. After giving New Zealand a run for their money it's refreshing to see that they are competitive.

Starting fantastically with a total of 25 after three overs they lashed the Proteas into an early bowling change and Kleinveld obliged with the wicket of the Zumed, caught behind on the first ball of his spell.  Ashrafal the superstar...21 from next to nothing...

Along comes Botha...Bangladesh scoring at 10.7 runs an over looking like they are in the power seats.

Third ball of his spell Botha turns it square, believe it not -at the Wanderers and he bowls Ashrafal, "lock-stock-and-smoking-barrel".

The game turns on it's head and the "Bangy's" are 56 for 2 with 9 overs to go and a modest required rate of 7.7

The game is poised to go either way.

If the Proteas carry on with their ill disciplined bowling and shoddy fielding they will certainly throw this game

With 22 balls left Bangladesh need only 30 to win and they only have five wickets down...

The mood is tense and it is Bangladesh's game to lose..

Shew, what an incredible fight back from the Protea's...picking up 3 wickets in the last three overs. Dale Steyn's precision, clean bowling two of his opponents and swiflty taking the game out the Bangladeshy's hands.

109 for 8 is what it ended up on...

A victory in the last over for the Protea's...nail-biting...

This won't be the last "Blog from the game" this summer...

Blog from the game with Konica Minolta #3 - End of the first innings

Posted by Townboy in Untagged

The game has been reduced to a 14 hour over smash and grab.
South Africa faltered after the rain break and couldnt build on the 10 runs per over standard they had set during the the first stint.

In fact it was Razzac that wreaked the havoc with a four wicket blitz. in 3 overs for 16 runs and four prize scalps.

It seemed like desperate batting by the Proteas as they tried in vein to lift the run rate.

The conditions are not ideal, the Highveld summer rains brought a swinging ball and a skiddy wicket.

But hey this is 20-20 and runs on the board is what counts.
SA end on 118 for 7...

I'm looking forward to the power and pace of Morkel and Steyn to rip the heart out of the Bangladesh top order...

Watch this space...

Blog from the game with Konica Minolta #2

The rain has come with the score at 71 for 2.
AB on 8 and Ontong on 6.

But, what an unbelievable start. SA was scoring at a rate just around the 10 runs an over mark.
Gibbs was imperious and Bosman was belligerent.

They raced to 34 after 3 overs...in true SA cavallier style.
The Bangladesh fielding was full of basic errors and this resulted in the rate climbing. Poor wicket-keeping and general jet-lag-fielding.

They weren't bowling the right line and the boys exploited it to the full.
So....43 after 4 overs

50 up after 5 overs

Hooray for Bangy's Gibbs bowled for 18 at high strike rate. it was a good length ball, played across the line and was castled.

During this first spell we saw the first six from Bosman. It was the last ball of the 5 over. He whipped it off his legs and headed majestically towards the scoreboard and just fell short of landing in Corlett drive....

This did not last long, Bosman out - he skies one to mid-off and and it comes down with Ice....great catch. Cheers Loots...out for 28 - high strike rate...

Enter AB and the thunder and lightening...
Play suspended....
More later...

"Blog from the game" -with Konica Minolta -another MyDL first

Posted by Townboy in Untagged

So Stiffmeister and I are the 20/20 Game. SA vs Bangladesh. We are guests of Konica Minolta in their box. This we believe is an SA first.

We are hoping to put together a "live" rendition of the game on MyDL.

I believe that this trend will take off and there will be many bloggers out there that will be sponsored by corporate SA to "Blog from the game"

Albeit an SA vs Bangladesh it's still an amazing atmosphere.
Bangladesh won the toss and have elected to field.

Bosman and Gibbs are at the crease...the atmosphere is electric.

Public Apology from brand Digital Life to Cathy Cronje: aka "Kitten"

I was very distressed to receive a SMS from our dear friend and avid contributor "Kitten".
The details of the SMS was about our lack of accreditation and the question of her future involvement with us. Something I fully support - if I was treated in this way.
