Canada must be rebuked for interfering in the affairs of our state.
By that idiotic non-logic, any country granting asylum to anyone would be interfering. He met the criteria set by the Canadian government. Fair and square. The fact that you just a*sume it was based on ignorant a*sumptions, is in itself, the most ignorant a*sumption I've heard to date. written by Dissol, September 02, 2009
Mikez not Dissol:
Why thank you for your well thought out and deeply considered opinion Mr. Dissol. I refer in my post to Canada's a*sertion that crime in this country is a matter of race. In terms of this judgement only white South Africans fall victim to crime and furthermore they do so due to their skin colour. Furthermore they've made this judement on our society based soley on evidence provided by Mr. Huntley and a Ms. Kaplan who herself been living in Canada for the last few years. By Mr. Huntley's own admission he has never even reported any of the acts of violence toward him to the police in South Africa all in all I am unhappy that Canada has made such a far reaching decision with so few facts at their disposal. I hope this clarifies my position and makes me seem less ignorant and idiotic.

I don't understand why everyone feels the need to be so affronted about this decision. In what possible way does it affect YOU. Bully for him. If he doesn't want to be here, let him go. Neither do I think a fear of crime in this country is irrational. Its all around us, every day.
I don't think the Canadian government would make a rash or ill thought out decision. written by OS GIKEN, September 02, 2009
Ok, the last comment wasn't me, simply because I don't use words like "affronted".Anyway, any patriot would be shocked, no matter what colour you are. Julius is a racist, and GOVT does nothing about it, this guy feels he's been singled out by every black criminal in SA so they target him...I say let him stay out of SA and GOVT must rebuke his ID and take away his SA citizenship...we don't need bad publicity like this...if we were to start talking about what happens in other countries we won't get end to it! :cry

Any patriot would be shocked? Bull. I'm a patriot and I'm not. To each his own.

@first phantom OS but the canadian Govt have made a rash and ill thought out judgment the evidence is in all the reports of the case... I too would THINK that they wouldn't but they did.
written by Koo, September 02, 2009
I disagree. You don't have all the facts, neither do I, but to a*sume the judgement is rash and ill thought out, is also jumping to conclusions. A board convened to judge the matter (and one we can a*sume is qualified to do so) found just cause to grant the status. I hardly think a few newspaper reports would provide even close to the full facts of the matter.
written by MikeZilla, September 02, 2009
Ok back @Koo if an individual from say across the border had made a similar claim, that he was being systematically persecuted because of his skin colour would the same conclusion have been reached? Further to my previous post does this mean that every white South African would now qualify for asylum in Canada on these grounds....

I did not write (nor do I agree with!!) the comment below that is ascribed to me. PLEASE MyDL sort these f***ing comments out...it is annoying to have comments that you strongly disagree with ascribed to your name.

An Afrikaans colleague was most amused by the findings. The impression given is that there are only a time handful of whites in South Africa. Can we now expect the Canadians to send in a helicopter to airlift the other 45 whites in the country who are gravely at risk?

If he's so scared of being in SA why is he planning on coming back?
