Canadians must not be very clever just ask Brandon Huntley PDF Print E-mail

The world makes much less sense to me than it did a few hours ago. How does a first world court supposedly superior to our poor third world judiciary. However they've allowed themselves to be duped by Mr. Huntley, a South African citizen who unable to qualify for citizenship has decided claim asylum. It really galls me that Canada has taken this position as it is tantamount to a direct attack on our society. It is a moral missile launched across thousands of miles aimed directly at our country and I for one am not amused. Brandon Huntley

Ok now let me get this clear, I am not condoning racism, violence, crime, corruption or the kicking of puppies. There are lots of problems in South Africa. Lots of problems that I believe we need to work together on if we're going to get anywhere. Ok so I'm anti crime and anti puppy kicking. Also I don't think crime is a racial problem it's an economic problem and a social problem. I believe everyone born in South Africa is an African. I believe that bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches for breakfast every morning is probably going to give me cholesterol problems late in life.

If only we were more like America

Now having said all this who the hell does Canada think it is to make a determination that is tantamount to proclaiming South Africa a human rights abuser. When their Southern Neighbour has cities and states with murder rates on par with South Africa and a good few states that still have capital punishment. Let's see Canada offer a white man asylum for repeatedly being robbed by financially disenfranchised black youths in America's projects. It would never happen because crime is not a matter of policy and Canada wouldn't want to upset those old yankees. Well this is what it means then, Canada believes that we are orchestrating and assisting the persecution of white South Africans in South Africa. Oh and it also means they have zero respect for our country unlike that moral bedrock that is the U.S.A.

Canada's immigration and refugee board, which has found "clear and convincing proof" he (Brandon Huntley) was persecuted for being white

Persecution not a small word

Now persecution according to those wikipedia folk is

"...the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another group."

Crime is bad but it's hardly a systematic mistreatment of white people. It's a systematic mistreatment of South Africans by criminals perhaps, will Canada offer all South Africans asylum? Or this one of those whites only deals? Understand my tongue is firmly in my cheek, or is it. Crime is a South African problem it's not just Brandon Huntley's problem. Ok now on to some general ranting about the idiocy of this judgement (which it is widely reported shouldn't last the interrogation of the Canadian supreme court) Apparently Brandon Huntley "would stand out like a 'sore thumb' due to his colour in any part of the country" Now what does that even mean?

Best of Luck Brandon Huntley

Brandon Huntley from Mowbray in my home town. I wish you everything of the best in your future endeavors and regret that you have found life in South Africa untenable. May you find peace where ever you may end up. I hope you find the strength to contribute in your new country and are able to pack away your misplaced hatred for us here at the foot of Africa. Brandon Huntley we'll miss you.

Some info from Canada about becoming a refugee

Convention Refugee
Convention refugees are people who are outside their home country or the country where they normally live, and who are unwilling to return because of a well-founded fear of persecution based on:

  • race
  • religion
  • political opinion
  • nationality or membership in a particular social group, such as women or people of a particular sexual orientation.

Person in need of protection
A person in need of protection is a person in Canada whose removal to their home country or country where they normally live would subject them personally to:

  • a danger of torture;
  • a risk to their life; or
  • a risk of cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.

I find this a really strange story. The Canadian anti racism laws are some of the best in the world. Certainly I have found society there more integrated than both.

But I don't think we should read too much of what lawyers manage to argue. I am still shocked that people have successfully sued fast food outlets for making them fat, or serving them hot coffee...

Indeed this is one of the reasons I'm so disappointed. My grandmother and father's have lived in Canada for more than 30 years now and I've only been impressed by what I've heard until now.
:grin It's a touchy subject I wish him the best of luck if he is so desperate to be rid of us

Congrats on an excellent post! I can see why it's brought you some international fame! smilies/smiley.gif (Hopefully fortune will follow suit.)

In one of the many articles I read about this case, I stumbled on one in which one of Brandon's best friends (a Saffa dude still living here, like the rest of us) was interviewed. When he was asked what he thinks Brandon will do with his newfound asylum and Canadian residency, he said (without a even a trace of irony) that Brandon will probably find himself a job, make some foreign currency, and after saving enough money, return to SA to settle down here!! :grin
