RIP to a Legend PDF Print E-mail

I’ve heard the name Miriam “Mama Afrika” Makeba throughout my life, and respected it throughout my life too.  At the age of 76, Miriam was still full of life, performing, traveling and adding a touch of magic to every country she touched ground on.  This Grammy winning artist I count as one of the top five most talented artists in the world.  The famous “click” song is the perfect song to train those who cannot click in Xhosa!  I still can’t click, but love the song.

She took heart ache and turned it into beautiful music, used pain and suffering through her performance.  She teamed up and later married Hugh Masekela, they had a daughter, who died in 1985.

Her music is a part of our history and has a solid peace in our countries structure.  RIP Mama, you’ll be missed.
