Content + Relationships = Traffic + Earning PDF Print E-mail

As a blogger starting off with the free and easy to use, Google’s Blogger or blogspot as it has become known fondly by users. Having always looked for a way to get me some money from it I took the effort of post a chronicle of findings and soon became traffic-inclined.

Traffic
Good traffic is what increases your Pay Per Click earnings in Google Adsense. So I tried out methods to get traffic to my blogs. I posted about interesting findings and information I thought was valuable to others... sometimes really useless nonsense. A few traffic milestones I encountered made me change my outlook on the whole blogging at blogspot scene. It takes a whole lot of convincing to keep your visitors coming back. That means, you need to have the best of content to match your beautiful title. People taunt you with 'Subscribe' links but if the content isn’t cutting it, there isn’t going to be any readers that would subscribe or return to read the awful posts. The best traffic I've had was from Digg and second from StumbleUpon. The Digg gave me about 35000 hits. Why wasn't I a MyDL blogger then?

Content
So I thought about using catchy titles and more relevant useful content. The race for fresh content is quite a hectic one. Bloggers snatch up the freshest information and turn it into theirs. I don’t mean they steal it but they are the first to discuss the topic. Feeds helped me in that aspect. I could now get more relevant topics sent to me and I could use it before anyone else does, to draw in the early-bird bloggers who prey on such content. The choice of words for the title really should pertain to the content. The content should be fresh, original and of use to me. I try to maintain a standard of writing that is formal, factual and insightful. My personal experiences are always included because I wouldn't post about something I haven't dabbled with. We share our experiences as opinionated content and give people in similar situations a solution or something to discuss.

Building Readerships & Relationships
The more social networks you join, the more exposure you give your feeds and posts. Making friends is easy online. Being kind takes a simple Please or Thank You! People have forgotten that it should be a give and take in any relationship. Developing friendships online is a sure way of having more people recognize you and trust your content. If you are my friend on any network, I interact positively instead of lurk behind the scenes. Most link-spammers befriend, spam you and leave copy/pastes. I do promote my links but try to do it mutually. I reciprocate. At MyDL, building a relationship with readers comes easily. I don't really need to go out of my way to unless I want to. I do want to actually, teach you all how to be an active member of any social network. Takes some time to really fit into the respective systems.

So overall I would say that at MyDL, I want traffic which will give me earnings. Steady traffic can only be achieved if you write good content and develop good relationships with other authors and social network members. If you have a stable and inclining readership, all you really need is good content!

Content and readership are the key elements at MyDL!

Content + Readership = Traffic = Digi-Rands

I couldn't have said it better Sniper. I must admit that being a newbie to MyDL & still learning the ropes, your posts have been consistently good & well thought out. There are some other pretenders to the crown but falling short because tend to burn their bridges. Between you & Charmed, well spent 10 cents for today...

Iceman, like I said, I try to add my bit of personal experience into the topic of discussion to make it mutually beneficial to us all. Feedback is always appreciated! That's why I post. I also try to keep it simple for most of it.

@Charmed: I hope to try one or two of the Get Published posts soon. Thanks for the kind comments!
