A failed experiment has had some unexpected results. An attempted private attempt at sending a craft to the moon failed because the craft crashed and is still up there. The splash that occurred when the craft hit the moon is the exciting part. Whilst small by lunar standards the splash was about ninety five litres of water.
This opens up a whole new branch of science. Up to now science has been somewhat terrestrial in nature, but now that water has been found on the moon, it might be possible to establish a base camp for astronauts.
Now this is the stuff of science fiction. Viva Alpha 1999.

Apparently it was a huge failure from a PR point of view.

It was thought to be a failure at first, as there was no visual cloud of debris thrown up...but the second craft did pick up information, even though telescopes did not pick up the cloud, as expected...
